Are you tired of staring at the same old walls and rooms? It happens! Now that we are indoors much more than during the summer months, we start to feel blah. However, it is nothing that a little revamping, paint and a fresh start cannot cure! So get ready for a little construction and a little DIY fun- and make sure your Massachusetts homeowners insurance is ready as a back-up!

#1: Pick a color. Many times, all a room needs is a new color. Are your walls cool? Try a warmer color such as burgundy or even burnt sienna. A totally new color will change the mood.

#2: Accessorize. Dressing up a room does not have to be expensive! Head on over to your local Home Goods or even Target for a few cheap and lovely room décor.

#3: Let there be light. Sure, you can buy a few new lamps to brighten up your rooms this winter, but we have a better idea. For a drastic change, install a new window or a skylight! This project will call for a professional, but you are sure to enjoy the outcome.

#4: Tear the walls down. Knocking down a useless wall can be pretty therapeutic! Turn to a professional if you need help choosing a wall that is not filled with pipes.

#5: Update your policy. When is the last time you checked on your policy? It is important to make sure there are no coverage gaps, especially if you will be renovating! A typical Massachusetts homeowners insurance policy will cover: the structure of your home, replacement costs, personal possessions, liability and more.

#6: Quit being a hoarder. Too much clutter in a home is sure to bring down the mood. Clean out all closets and rid of anything you have not used in over a year or so. It will feel so much better once the clutter is gone.

You don’t need to find a new home to feel house happy again. With just a few tweaks, you can switch up your home’s mood this winter. For those DIY projects, it is best to make sure your Massachusetts homeowners insurance covers any accidents or mistakes.  Good luck and enjoy your “new” home!
